Update: Roberts’ GMO Labeling Bill Won’t Progress in Senate

March 16, 2016

I was super disappointed today to learn that the Senate voted not to progress Senator Roberts’ bill on GMO labeling, which would stop Vermont’s labeling law from going into effect in July and would create a voluntary federal labeling standard. We need a labeling solution that will not demonize this technology and will avoid a state-by-state patchwork mess of laws.

I was even more disappointed that Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders decided to rejoice at this news. (I haven’t seen responses from the Republican candidates.) I couldn’t help myself, I had to let Mrs. Clinton know my feelings – too bad I only had 140 characters on Twitter!
