inFact: Locally Grown Produce

May 15, 2013

I love farmer’s markets or roadside stands, mostly because we used to have one! But the video makes a really good point — locally grown isn’t quite the “perfect solution” everyone seems to think it is. If you can buy from a local farmer, great. You’re going to get freshness and flavor (if they actual pick it fresh and don’t ship it in…like a lot of people around us do….). But if you have to go to the grocery store in the middle of winter to buy strawberries, go for it.

At the end of the day, no matter where you buy it from, you’re helping farmers somewhere!
